I have an original 1969 Strat that I bought when no one would touch a pre-CBS Fender. It's largely stock, though I have thoroughly Rory Gallaghered the finish. I'm thinking of selling it, but want to have a clear sense of what it's worth before I do. For those of you in the Chicago area, do you have a place you'd recommend to get a rough appraisal? Bonus points if it's in the near Western or Southwestern burbs.

Not living in Chicago, but I know a lot of the dealers there. I'd go to SS Vintage, Scott Silver's place after he sold Chicago Music Exchange. That's another one. They are both on Clark. I'd also try Heath Jensen at Rock N Roll Vintage. It's on Damen. Those are all in the city. There's also Guitar works in Evanston. Never sure whats north, south, east and west there. Raised in Cleveland, for me, the lake is always north and that's not true in Chicago and I get screwed up.

You might want to give Third Coast Guitar a call and see if they will do it. They have a satellite shop inside Tobias Music in Downers Grove. Saves you from having to drive to the city. They also do great repair work. Good luck.

Thanks. I've had work done at Third Coast. I'll give them a shout.
