i went to school for jazz (north texas and cleveland state), burnt out and didnt touch an instrument for a decade...came back to music playing bass, and picked guitar back up again about 3.5 years ago. doing rock stuff, lotta steely dan ('black cow' above), never thought id play jazz ever again in my life. long story short, im taking lessons with two different teachers now, and for about the past six months have focused entirely on learning joe pass' style with walking bass and counterpoint.
this was the first solo gig ive ever done, and i was nervous as hell even tho it was just a restaurant gig. i wish i had a decent mic with me because this room sounded soooo good, and the 335 (was on the neck pickup all night, has TI flats on there too) and carmen ghia were perfect. only pedals on the board were a strymon deco (both sides barely on) and tuner.

It's kind of cool that you can do something like this solo. The tone, playing, & feel sound good.
I'm guessing it's a little tough with folks focusing on their dinner and conversation. Although, I'm sure you get a few opportunities to connect.

I dig it!
Sometimes gigs like this... you play for yourself. You find a 'zone' and you play because you like too. You forget there's an audience. Even think they're not listening to you, so you're doing this to make music for yourself.
