I used to own the Quantum Silver full Wreck stack (including reverb!) and was never able to play it past ~9’o clock on the volume, so I ended up selling it
I got a Z Wreck Jr. the other day, but it does not seem to have the snap/chime/3d clean that the larger Wreck has - I’m within my return period for 1 more day and have some thoughts
Is part of the magic of these amps the Alnico Gold?
Does running a quad of el84, and the larger transformer add some extra “oomph” to the sound even at lower volumes?
I like the idea of a master volume on the Jr. but with the master all the way up and the volume at 11 o clock where I like it, I don’t think i could keep up with the 2 drummers that I frequently play with.
I’m hesitant to spend the extra money on the large Wreck, knowing that I will definitely have to attenuate it - for reference I plug a custom shop Telecaster straight in and like the amp set at 11-12 o clock
Has anyone here owned both the Z Wreck combo, and the Jr?

No experience with the Wreck models, just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I'm sure someone will be able to chime in (pun intended). You don't say what speaker you are using with the Jr so maybe what you are missing is in the Gold. I've always had a preference for more powerful amps turned low to smaller amps turned up. YMMV

The full size Wreck is loud however you can get it with a half power switch which will take it down a bit. You can also use a device like a Fryette Power Station to give you that tone at any volume, while adding an effects loop for Delay or Reverb. Once you have the Fryette, amp wattage realy doesn't matter anymore. I have never played a Z Wreck Jr tho, to be honest. I am sure it is great but may not work for your situation.

The Wreck Jr is using the stock Greenback, the amp is used, so I am assuming it is broken-in already
On paper, the big wreck is 5dB louder (3 because of wattage and 2 because of speaker). I’m thinking that because I play clean, and want to play cleanish with a loud drummer that maybe the full size Wreck combo would be a good fit for me, even though I will have to heavily attenuate it at home

I play with a loud drummer and often on bigger stages. The amp is loud. I sometimes use the Brake Lite to tame it on one or two. No experience with the junior, but the Wreck is a great amp.

I run the jr with a 2x10. Old blue frame Scumbacks… greenback and anniversary equivalents. It’s all I need when paired with a Vibrolux reverb for wet (effects). I’ve only played the zwreck in a store, and it seemed way loud for what I do.

Theres just something about running a quad of power tubes, that thrust and bigness. I think the Zwreck works good with a click or 2 of the a Z-brake which is probably all youd need at the gig levels you describe. Likely click 4 at home, but on stage you’d certainly feel the difference with the big boy Zwreck.

Could it be the speaker(s)?
My Wreck Sr, ran through the Blue/Gold cab for while before I converted it to a 1x12 combo with just the Gold. All of those speakers were more chimey, snappy, and had better 3-D cleans than the Greenback in the Wreck Jr.
Maybe a speaker swap to a Gold?
I ran my Wreck Jr through my 1x12 cab with a Blue and it was better on the cleans, and fuller low-end.... but I preferred the Greenback with dirt pedals. Since I'm playing more dirty these days, I left the Greenback in.

Your guitar volume knob is your best friend here. That and controlling your right hand attack. I have an original RX that will remove faces in the wrong hands and using the guitar volume tames it a lot. That said my RX is most dynamic and touch sensitive around 2 o’clock but anything above 10:00 -10:30 is too loud for most smaller rooms
