Does anyone here use a Celestion Gold in their cabinet(s) for classic rock/rock music?
I have many cabinets here, Marshall, Dr. Z, Mesa Boogie, Fender, etc, and my favorite and best sounding cabinet by far is my Dr Z convertible. With the speaker I have in there right now, it’s just a little bit dark and I’d like to brighten it up a bit and thinking of putting one of my Celestion Golds in there. Just wanted to hear your opinions about using that particular speaker for rock music.
Btw, I use the cabinet with the middle panel removed.

I've run my Therapy in an open back Z 1x12 with a Gold. I'm in a working classic rock band. I don't remember why I didn't stick with the Gold, but I like a Vintage 30 better. A UK V30 is my favorite, followed by a 2013 Chinese V30. Oddly, I was thinking about trying the Gold again today. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime next week.

GREAT speaker all-around for pop & rock... yeah, I'd say so. I don't have one right now, but my V-Type (to my ears, like a less-loud Gold) is pretty central to my British-toned amps and I think the Gold can rock quite well, too. In fact, I recall a lot of guys loving the Remedy + Gold combination several years back. If that ain't rock, I don't know what is.

I had one in a Z 1x12 cab when I had my Z Remedy - I used it on the 40-watt setting at an outdoor gig and it was glorious. I miss those days

I use a WGS Blackhawk (their gold replacement) with my Therapy. I’d say the Gold or Blackhawk would fit the bill.

I love the Gold for Rock Don! As always, YMMV

I tend to not wander far and then go back to the blues and golds but the alnico cream is nice too.
I had never warmed up to my Orange cab with a V30 in it until I played a Les Paul through a Dumble clone clean through it. That’s why I still have that.

Don - If you recall, Tracii Guns had golds in his Prescription ES and then he used them when he moved to the Remedies. That's a pretty good recommendation for a classic rock sound.

Here is one at the shop. I believe mine is the one directly behind Tracii - like the Prescription in the photo, mine is missing the Anniversary badge the other ones have in the lower right corner of each combo amp.

Should be great for that! None of my bands play "classic rock" but I play quote a bit at home w/ z-wreck jr and that speaker works great for it.
