I read so many good about this amp that I had to have one. I went for a head to go atop my Z 1x12.
I made an offer on Reverb didn't hear anything for 23 hours and I thought I should perhaps start looking for something else, To my surprise, sold! No counter offers. I made a fair offer no low balling but not top dollar either.
Sold my Carmen Ghia, Maz 18 and Remedy not because they were bad but I like to turning over my inventory and how could I say no to a Wreck.
Somewhere I read a Z Talk post where someone said the Maz 18 is more modern, the Wreck more spongy. I kept that in mind as a watched a fine your chap on Youtube compare both and sure thing the post was spot on. I could hear the difference and it sure looks like the Wreck Jr is for me.
Back 2007 or so I was at a GC in the DC area and I plugged into some amp I never heard of started playing and was totally blown away by the sound and rich harmonics. It was this wooden box head I had never seen or heard before. I gotta believe this was a Trainwreck.
Now I can't wait for the Wreck Jr! Wish me luck.

The Z-Wreck Jr. is definitely an amp that challenges you to adjust your playing dynamics, guitar-volume knob, power with which you hit the strings, etc. very differently in order to coax different tones out of the amp. [Occasionally "spongy," yes--but it's a matter of, how hard to you squeeze the sponge.] Kind of like: with great capability of tone comes great responsibilities.
I don't have enough experience with the original/full-power Z-Wreck, but I can only imagine it's the exact same way (only MUCH more loud & powerful) too.

Don’t forget, this amp works best with a Celestion Greenback. It’s the reason Doc puts the Greenback in the combo’s. As always YMMV. Have fun!
