Hi all -
I picked up a Carmen Ghia 1x10 off reverb. The previous owner took the Dr Z 10" out and replaced it with a crap 10" out of a Fender Princeton 68 Reissue.
I would like to know which Eminence 10" speaker is the closest to the stock Dr Z special designed Eminence speaker.
I would like to get the amp back to as much stock as possible.
Many thanks!

I'd like to know this too. I dig the Z-10 speakers, they're great.

To me, the 10” Emi Ramrod comes real close. I realize it’s rated efficiency is greater than the Z 10 but I’ve always felt that the Z 10 was louder than it’s efficiency would lead you to believe. They both are great sounding 10s.

I would ordinarily have said the Ramrod, because it's in that direction and it's a good rockin' speaker. But I see now that Eminence still has the Red Fang 10" ceramic speaker (the RF10C)--and I'd guess THAT one is even closer to Doc's 10" speaker. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it IS Doc's speaker.

One of my first Z's was a used 10" Ghia combo, and it had the Ramrod in it. I'm not sure if that was stock or not. I changed it out to the Red Fang (they were still making the Alnico version back then). Both speakers sounded great and were very efficient (if you want that).

My first Mini Z came stock with the Ramrod, and I thought it sounded great. I bet with the Alnico RF it was off the hook!

It sounded good, but it was the only gig in over 8 years where my Bass player asked me to turn up and I couldn't do it. Back in went the RF. He never asked again! I haven't tried the ceramic RF, but I bet it's pretty dang good.
