I've always been intrigued by the Stang Ray as I am a Vox guy through and through. I've found tons of clean clips on YouTube, etc., and I know everyone says this amp is loud, but are there any clips of it cranked with no pedals? I've never been able to find anything that shows what it sounds like as it gets some hair on it, even with an attenuator.

Asks about Stangray Ray cranked. @drew says “hold my beer!”
If I can manage to get my house to myself on Saturday, I’ll give it a go.

Drew was the first person who came to my mind also. Don't know whether he ever posted any clips.

Does "Drew" happen to be Brad's former tech? Brad (Paisley, that is) is the only mortal on earth who I'd imagine could actually crank a StangRay. In that old Dr. Z product DVD, there was a segment where Brad was on-stage somewhere and he was playing a StangRay that he claimed was cranked (off in the distance, or below the stage). Brad being Brad, I believed him.

Not the one I was referring to. Drew on this forum who just had a B-day and lives in the PNW.

And if you're wondering Brad's currant tech is Dave Rouse. Dave was a one time tech to Keith Richards. So how's that for having some Tele experience ? Z

I have a few clips of fill takes were the volume is up around 2:30, with no attenuation. It definitely hits you in the chest at these levels, and its quite a thrill to try and keep it from taking off on you.

Thanks rbk84! That's exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for. Can I ask what the cab/speaker was on that?

I prefer the Zwreck speaker configuration with where I like to run it-Blue/Gold wired in series (16ohms)
The mid range gets very sweet with that combo.
