Hi, I'm Gianluca from Italy, I've been looking for an egz in Italy for a long time and just managed to buy it used!
I ask you if the tubes I found are fine or should you replace them to restore the original sound.
I found in the post two 6l6gc str 440 Mesa Boogie, in the pre the 12ax7 are tung-sol, the 12at7 instead have no
brand, it is difficult to read the code 6201, the 5ar4 is a sovtek 09/02.
the amp stays clean until the end, I can't get it to distort! maybe other tubes could help me saturate it sooner? I am not a technician so I would also like to understand if I can change them myself or if they need a bias calibration. thanks

Welcome! Glad you found an EZG!! See the link below for tube and bias information. Looks like the EZG does require biasing. Others, that are more knowledgeable than I, will have to answer some of your other questions. tube-info

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on snagging an EZG. It is an adjustable, fixed bias amp that requires biasing but in my experience, the EZG is a clean amp until it gets to ear bleeding volumes. If you are looking for amp breakup, tubes and biasing might play around the edges but you will probably need an attenuator and inefficient, lower wattage speakers. Good luck.
If you were in the US, I'd advise sending it in to Z-land for the level control mod but I'm not sure how available that is in Europe. Some kind of pedal is probably your best bet.

Hello Gianluca! Glad you found your way to this Forum from FB (I'm Michael James there). There is a lot of good information and great people here! Most tube screamer-style pedals work great with the EZG.
