Been researching these and I’m convinced a ZPlus will give me grab and go small gig solution. I love my zwreck jr, but it’s a wet dry rig because it’s not great with time based pedals. Just waiting for Sweetwater (I gotta guy) to get some in stock so I can buy it interest free and not use my cash until tax refunds flow.
I have a few speakers here, including a c-blue, so I’m thinking Creamback. I’m trying to be patient.

The Z Plus is great! It's got a lot of versatility. It's got great top end definition that is sweet! Also has a beautiful reverb! I like the Z12 with it. Gives a great all around balanced sound.
Another amp to consider that will absolutely take effects like a champ is the Jetta. That thing plays nice with everything I've thrown at it. If you're looking for your effects to dominate the overall tone, it's hard to beat the Jetta.

I have a Z10, and while it’s great, it’s not my favorite. I’m generally not a British speaker guy, but love them with the zwreck jr. Does the z12 sound like the z10?

The Z Plus will definitely not disappoint!
The Z12 is nothing like the Z10 to my ear. Z10 is British flavor while Z12 is American voiced.
Check out this video from the good doctor.

Z plus should be in stock at sweetwater. They just got one in and had it tagged for me but I found a used one in the interim. I believe they released the hold today.

You’re going to love the versatility and tone of this amp. Mine has the Z-12 and I believe a near perfect match. Doc has also sung the praises of the creamback in this amp, so I’m sure that will be a good pick as well. I have come to trust his ears.

I think the original "Joe Walsh" spec was with a Celestion Blue

Oh the speaker rabbit hole..... I love Doc's Z12 in that amp. If you are after classic Fender"ish" tones, that's no question the Z12 imho. I tried a blue and it didn't last long. I felt it was less "full" for lack of a better word. Still sounded great though. I just preferred the Z12. I haven't tried a Creamback. There is one sitting right next to it lol. I'll have to give it a go at some point. Honestly, the Z12 sounds so good to me, I wouldn't want to take it away. I do usually run the Z12 with an Eminence Swamp Thang by using a PCNS Happy Cab. The Swamp Thang just fills out the sound even more and gives a HUGE feel to it. It rounds out the bottom end a little more. Honestly though, it's not necessary to add the Swamp Thang as the amp sounds brilliant with the Z12 alone. Decisions decisions ......

The Blue in the ZPlus can be bright just playing in your home, but sounds great with the band. I also like the Z12 for a more “full” tone. I’ve used the Z12 in an extension cab with the Blue in the combo.

I've got the ultralight Z12 combo and it's a very special amp. I tried different speakers and as usual went back to the Z12 that it came with. I too trust Doc's ear, the man has a gift.

I have the ultra light as well. It sounds great. However, my cure and jetta in the studio combo sound great as well. I've never played the z plus in a studio combo. However, Doc said he preferred the smaller studio combo tone. I love listening to the Doc talk about his amps and design details. Really interesting!

Man… this is a Little Rock and roll machine. MV hasn’t been anything but full up yet. And, I haven’t tried the 7 watt option. I did put some old stock tubes in… rec, Bendix 6v6’s, and a RCA in V1.
Does anyone know the preamp functional line up? I could pull the chassis and look at the circuit, but would rather not.
added: the Z 12 is great! I have a blue, a very broken in v30, and a Jupiter… that I may try with it. I will report back when that occurs!
