an opportunity i'll cherish forever...was involved in a lot of the build, hand carved the neck, but the builder really went above and beyond on this bad boy. i cant say enough about him...id mention his name, but want to check if he's ok with that first. nothing special here...just a gretsch jet without a bigsby. white limba body (fully chambered), ply of walnut/maple/walnut where he sanded off the top layer in order to create the arch (rather than carving it out of one piece), 1-pc flamed maple neck, TV jones pickups (treble bleeds and no-load tone circuit). that's all there is to it. this is the first try-out. still got some minor tweaks, but it's really, really close. thru > benson preamp > strymon deco (no boost side) > mooer reverb > carmen ghia. here's an overhead of the neck here's an idea of what it was like carving a single piece of wood into a neck by hand...this took FOREVER but was so worth it glamour shots...first three show the ply, the before sanding and after sanding pics

the one thing that kept coming back to me thru this whole process was just how great of a design the gretsch jet is. totally underrated. not going to say anything bad about strats/teles, les pauls or 335's in the slightest...only that, personally, i think the jet deserves to be in that conversation among em. bridge/neck is like a tele/strat on steroids (respectively)...or a leaner gibson sound. right in that perfect in between space.
big gretsch jet fan over here.
