Unless I'm missing/not seeing something I don't see any current production amps that use the ef86 preamp. Is this because of how finicky/microphonic the ef86 can be? For a while DrZ were one of only a few companies featuring ef86s preamps in their models so just wondering why they all went away (M12, Stangray, Z28, etc.).?.?

Like Nick mentioned, the updated Z28, that will have a MV, will be coming out at some point. In answer to why there aren't any new EF86 front end amps, I would say it probably has to do with there not really being a huge stock of quality EF86's in new production. That you can trust anyway. And the stock of NOS versions are only getting smaller. M Just my best guess

Anybody have a better answer than a "guess"? Thanks, As Todd mentioned, the new Z28 will be coming out at some point. It's just a matter of when. However my "guess" was in answer to your question on why there's not any new current production Dr Z amps with an EF86 frontend. Of course, I'm not the Doc, so I'm not privy to his business decisions. However it only makes sense though that the reason the EF86 frontend amps went away was due to the stock of available EF86's that are anywhere near spec (or lack thereof). Although I don't know for certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if the updated Z28 will be on the limited side, due to that same reason.
