I ran across this reverb listing and maybe I'm missing something but what makes this guitar worth anywhere near $5,500? Much less the $10,000 that they were originally asking. Looks like a glorified partscaster to me. And I'm not putting down partscasters. I have a tele style guitar that's one, but $5,500??? Reverb Listing

Huh. I don't see why it is priced that way. Just looks like a basic parts caster, like you said.

And I thought the funny part was where the seller said, that $5,500 was the lowest that he could lower it to. I don't see enough high end parts in there to even get you anywhere close to $5,500...Oh well. Ha!

It's the lowest he can lower it to because he doesn't really want to sell it...but if there is a sucker out there willing to pay that much for it, he can take the money and run and build another for $500 give or take a bit. Don't forget, it does come with a tweed case.

You got a point Marc! Forgot about the tweed case. That makes a HUGE difference!! Ha!

And I love the "Condition: Mint" in the description. Looks like it was dragged out of a swamp...not my style!

Nice looking neck, however it doesn't really "match" the heavy relic body. That's a $600.00 guitar all day long!

I thought the neck looked really cool too, the relic on the body looks pretty cool (if thats your thing) but the two together look a bit missmatched

LOL on the "comes with tweed hardshell case." Why, so it doesn't get all beat up-looking??

I was once fully opposed to relics. Now, I can take a guitar that is modestly worn in certain places.
That thing just looks cartoonish. In addition, I think you'd need a tetanus shot after playing it.
I like how two (2) people have it in their cart to try to feign 'interest'...one of them is likely the seller's other account!

Yeah, I'm fine with relics that are tastefully done. And they can have quite a bit of relicing but if it looks realistic then yeah, I'm fine with that. I like a lot of the bodies and necks that MJT does. But I just don't like them if they look like they have been sent through the woodchipper two or three times and sat on the bottom of a lake for ten years.... Also about the "people have it in their cart"....yeah...there are many times where I'm like, the guitar store is wanting to generate interest so they have their employees put it in their cart to make it look like it needs to be snatched up while you still have time.

I can honestly see a Fender Custom Shop at that price more than the other. Still a lot more than I would ever spend on a guitar, but yeah... Ha!

The point I'd like to make is:
The listing says it's in 'mint' condition. Really? How would a person know if it wasn't mint? How can you ever say a relic'd guitar is in 'mint' condition. It doesn't make any sense.
