Snappy New Year everyone,
I used to have an old Remedy, non MV, sold it like a silly person. I have a very new, unused Remedy here with the master volume and bypass. I'm not using the bypass switch at all, not plugged in. Don't like 'em. I am very familiar with the Z PPIMV, what it is and how/why it works, I have it in several of my Z amps. My tone knob settings are conservative, nothing cranky.
My new Remedy seems a good deal hotter, with more gain, than my old one. The old one always had fresh tubes, the new one has fresh tubes, my favorite combination of preamp tubes I used in the old amp. I keep the new MV wide open to "remove" it from the circuit. I like dialing in the vol 1 and vol 2 to get to where I need to be, without dialing down something else.
Has anyone else noticed the MV Remedys being hotter with more front end gain?
Thanks for your time and comments,
Swampcooler

Can't speak to the master volume, but I picked up and old non master not long ago, think it's fantastic, and really like the extended clean range on it to. The next person might like the master, who knows.
What's your preamp tube choice if I may ask? Thanks.

EH 12ax7 V1, JJ V2, LPS V3, pretty normal stuff, and it creates the midrange I like and cuts the bass mud splatter from the JJ in V1. The JJ in V1 was hotter still. No need for the Tungsol in V3, I've been there before and I have previous Remedy posts from several years back where others also profess to prefer the LPS.
I just don't remenber the older Remedy being quite as hot as this new one.

I had a factory PPIMV mod done on my Remedy. I didn't notice the amp getting hotter. Seemed to have the same gain structure before and after the mod. The mod seemed to smooth out the frequencies a bit. However, that could just be from the change in volume as I can now run it at lower dBs.
