Having decided to gift myself with a hand-wired amp in order to celebrate my entry into the septuagenarian age, I went on the search for a Dr.Z based on build, reputation, and US made. I became very concerned that even lower powered amps would overpower me, so l looked for smaller models including the Jetta but then ran into a used maz18 with 2 10’s that had been recently upgraded to a mark2, had the attenuator installed and the price was less than many smaller amps. Being a fool for the sound of 10’s I jumped on it and am glad that I did. After a long drive and the next day, I was able to warm it up and go. The surprise is that yes, if you 10 it, it is Very loud but when you take the time to dial it in it performs at low volumes exceedingly well and I have yet to touch the brake. So to all those concerned with decibel levels fear not and move forward with your purchase of a Dr.Z amp, the Maz18 in particular. Warmer, drier weather will get this amp outdoors to be cranked up and appreciate living out in the country with space between neighbors. Amen.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on a great amp. I owned a 04 Maz 18 2x10 that stayed with me for about 15 years. Seriously great amp. There’s lots of great folk and information here. Enjoy.

MAZ 18 Jr 2x10 was my first Z amp, purchased in 2003 I think. It's still with me. It brought in a bunch of relatives to live with it over the years. That's a warning

The MKII master volume is an ear saver. Sounds great at manageable volume levels. Plus, with two tens, you really scored a winner. Enjoy!

Welcome 210! You got a gem, keep that guy.
This post is 100% right. Although an attenuator is a little redundant with how good the MV is on this amps. I mostly need lower volumes as well, but by luck came across a Maz 38 with the mkii and unlike my 18 had reverb. I don’t need to run the 38 any louder than I did the 18, yet it has just a bit more magic even at lower volumes. All that to say the Maz design with the mkii let’s you sound great regardless of volume.

Congrats and welcome aboard. I have an mkii but have never tried one with 10s, though Id love to! I bet two gold 10s would be as amazing.
As stated, no need for attenuator with mkii's MV.
