Anybody have any extensive thoughts or experience? I'm not a fan of the gold, but like the blue. I love the Red Fang, but damn is it efficient. I'm thinking of buying a Ruby to try out.

I gotta admit, I just threw the V Type in the combo and it sounds pretty great I was surprised but not. I'm still interested in hearing the Ruby and what anybody thinks.

I'm not sure I can help much, but I had one for a while. I sold it, but sort of wish I kept it to try in more amps. I bought it for a brown princeton Stapleton, which isn't a bright amp by amy means. The Ruby didn't help the situation. I wouldn't call the Ruby especially dark. I would say it needs to be in a bright amp, or an amp with more eq sshaping ossibilities.
That amp is also low wattage and doesn't have much headroom. I felt the Ruby was soft and compressed by comparison to the stock CS Eminence speaker. So with that particular amp I missed the headroom and stiffer feel of the stock speaker. It seemed louder and punchier stock.
With that said I've had amps that were excessively bright and stiff. I bet the Ruby would be perfect for an amp like that.

Everything I’ve read and heard online says that it is the darkest of all the Celestion alnicos. By a long shot.

I have paired my Ruby as an extension cabinet for my Maz38 and Z-Plus. Those amps have a Cream Alnico in them.
The ruby was a little dark, but the pairing is fantastic. Unfortunately, I haven't run it with directly with my amp to date. If I was ambitious, I would put the Ruby in an Amp and make a video.
Let me search for some creative energy.

There was lot of interest in this speaker when it first came out but I have not seen much about it after that. That sort of makes me suspect Celestion missed the mark with it or the market for something like it is already saturated by speakers such as the Tone Tubby and C-Rex. Just my impression. Any comments?

My perception is the same. That it was possibly a big let down. Too dark and too far off from the expected tonal mark for guys to really get behind it. Could be awesome though if you just have an abrasively bright amp. In my personal A/B comparisons with an AC30, I still think the Blue is the standout. Followed by the Cream, then the Gold. The gold just doesn’t want to compress at all, so it feels and sounds different. The cream is a great speaker though. Never bothered with the Ruby.

This guy put together a decent video of the Ruby. Some Z content too. I think it just needs to be in the right amp.

Ruby sounds good there. Joe also compared them all if that’s a helpful reference.

I’ve wanted to try the Fane, but I’m stuck on the Red Fang. I’m didn’t dig the Alnico Creamback so I pulled it and put a RF in. I’m thinking of trying to trade it for another Red Fang.
