It's the only new mkii maz I can find over old England... The only thing putting me off is the 10 inch Z speakers (I have no idea how they sound) they seem less popular then the 12's. I have a 10" voice of the world speaker in my 15 watt orange it sounds good to me. so should I pull the trigger or just wait who likes the 10's?

Doc's 10s are amazing - he knows his sounds. Many people try other speakers but they seem to go back to what Doc originally built it with.

I loved my 2x10 Maz. It was 2003/4 that stuck with me until 2018 when traded it for a Z-Plus. Really wanted the Z-Plus and the 2x10 was the older heavier cabinet. If it was the newer 45 pound cabinet, it would probably still be here. I think the 10’s are the perfect marriage for that amp but ymmv. Can’t tell you what to do, but the 10’s would be my speakers of choice with that amp. You could also have fun mixing or matching within the same cabinet.

That is a great sounding amp, don't be put off by the 10" speakers. Doc really nailed it when he paired them with the Maz 18. It sounds huge.

Z’s 210 combos are beautiful things.

To add to the above, don’t fear loosing any low end by going with two tens over a twelve. In fact you might gain some given the increase in air displacement. I don’t have any personal experience with that exact setup but had a Victoriette 2x10 and it was as full and lush as you can imagine. And it didn’t even have Z10s, so I think you’ll love it.

I would go for it but I also think 2x10s sound better than a 1x12 cab playing live (like in a club)

I have a 2x10 maz jr reverb with the dr Z branded speakers.
I also have a 1x12 cab that I have tried a celestion blue and a 70s greenback with the maz.
I like the stock 2x10 speakers best. The Celestions have less bass than the 2x10. 2x10 sounds bigger.
Also, even with the blue it was quieter than the 2x10. With the greenback it was way quieter. Not sure I could even gig with it.
If you are going after vox tones the blue might be preferred. Way more top end and clang than the Z speakers. But if you want something more flexible and able to pull off fender tones better than the 2x10 with the Z speakers are nice.

At Z fest a few years ago Doc set up a demo for the group. He had Buddy play through two different cabs and ask the group which one we liked better . . . . . the group picked the 2x10 cab over the 12" cab. It was a blind test, we didn't know what was what. 2x10's move a lot of air, tend to be tighter sounding and little quicker in response. I have several 1x10 Cabs/combos that I really really like. The Z 10's that I have 2 of them are really great sounding speaker, under rated in my opinion. They did take a bit to break in though but 1x10 Ghia with a Dr Z 10 is my go to amp. My First Z was a Maz Jr 2x10, still regret that its gone, live and learn. Cons to the 2x10, is they can be a little heavier Good luck with your tone quest! Todd
