I haven’t been on the forum much for quite awhile. Been a busy boy doing a lotta nuthin but always something in my retirement. Can’t quite keep myself from yet another rave here about this amp.
Anyway, been away from the Nova for a while, too. And I’m talking about for live gigging, which I don’t do a ton of, but every month or two we play out. Used the Wreck Jr to great effect after getting that beast. Then did a stent where I took my old tweed Deluxe out (with Doc’s brake-lite in it), good but not so widely versatile - hard to get just the right volume, and a little browner than I like. Recently pulled out the Cure which I bought two years ago also, but had hardly played. Did a gig or two with it, superb.
But ………. Last night I broke out the Nova and Good Gawd Amighty! This amp really just rocks. Simply rocks. Really, really rocks. Normal @2:30, Distortion channel on 11:00, and a little while @ 1:00. Only pedals were a tremolo and a touch of Strymon Blue Sky short reverb. Superb GV roll back clean, dial up simply as much distortion as you please with the GV knob!!!!! Our sound guy commented strongly on it, not the first time he’d done so. Smooth, smooth, smooth distortion with incredible clarity (nod your head if that makes sense) and NEVER biting nor piercing, despite using my old Tele all night, as usual. All pickup positions variously through the gig. Perfect volume, so easy to get exactly right. I think this is perhaps the perfect American (Fender) style gig amp, with the Wreck (or Jr) being the perfect Vox style gigging amp (mine has a MV and a Brake-lite, so getting the perfect volume is a cinch). Hard to justify even trying any others. If I wasn’t so lazy, and our stages so small, I’d take both the Nova and Wreck to A/B all night, but …… lazy. Think I’m back to using this Nova for all gigs for the foreseeable future. So easy, it’s ridiculous.
Anyway: the freaking Nova: monstrously pleasing for this old crappy player - she makes me sound good. That is all.

good doctor, thank you once again. turns out, you are a big part of my life, though we’ve never met in person (all smaltzy here, tears in my eyes. 🤓😎)
