The Mini-Z that Doc auctioned off last week arrived at it's new home this morning and I've been having a ball with it all day. Such a cool little box-o-joy! It's amazingly big sounding for a little 8" speaker, and I was happily satisfied to hear good lows coming from such a small driver.
It doesn't have an attenuator but I think I may pull one of my Brake-Lites out of another amp and try it with this. I just did a trial run with an Air Brake and it sounds fine. I've got two Brake-Lites and one is in my Wreck...I can't remember where the other one is. Chances are good that I'll sit up in bed tonight at around 2:00AM and remember!
I had one of the last production ones and stupidly broke my golden rule of not selling amplifiers. I've regretted letting it go ever since and I'm glad that I was able to get back on the Mini train. I thought I wouldn't like the smaller speaker model as much as I did the 10" but this speaker sounds terrific. Great amp, thanks Doc!

Congratulations on that! I just cranked up my mini a few weeks ago. I had forgotten how much I love that thing! So many complex and dynamic tones come outta that small amp.

Congrats Dave! I was going to bid on it early on but it didn't have a Z and I would have wanted one (and the rules are no special requests or modifications)! However, once I saw you expression of interest I wasn't going to bid anymore, anyway It's a neat little amp.

I appreciate your consideration (and others, no doubt), this place is the best...It really is.

Big sound from a little Z. Doesn't surprise me at all. Sounds funny on the attenuator front, but that probably opens up a whole another world of tone and harmonics. I consider us blessed that Z makes all these different hand wired amps for us to explore. It feels like a throwback to a better time or something. There's magic in all his amps. A lot of people here get that, obviously. I had the pleasure of talking to another member the other day and I asked him to give me a rundown of his 20 Z's so that I might get some insight on whatever amp was about or whatever. The gist of that is he was just as enthusiastic about amp number one as amp twenty. They are all fantastic and do really different things. I just consider us all all blessed here.

That was me Adam and I really enjoyed our conversation. I just got done putting 2 hours on my red Mini-Z head and boy does that thing sing. Mine has the 8 watt transformer and attenuator. I also added a 3-way bright switch as I do on many of my amps, just adds some more tonal options. By the way, number 21 is on its way. A red M12 head. I had one before and have always regretted selling it. Looking forward to getting one back in the stable. My EZG 50 is on its way to Don for all the latest and greatest upgrades including a front mounted master volume.
