Just curious to see what speakers people are using with their Carmen Ghias?

Celestion Blue and/or Greenback.

I'm pretty much a fan of the Greenback. My Maz Jr came with one. When I bought my Randall IsoCab, I tried out the Vintage 30 it came with and a Celestion Classic Lead 80. A Greenback went in the IsoCab and never came out. Now I have the UA Ox and the availability of lots of speakers. I still settle on the Greenback cabinets in the Ox.
I do have one exception. I have a Tone Tubby in an open back 1x12 cabinet. I've only used it for live rehearsals since it would be too loud to record at home (vs the IsoCab and Ox). My guitar feels like it's singing through the Tone Tubby. I only wish the Ox had it. I didn't get the same effect in the IsoCab because I think the Tone Tubby needs to breathe.
What have you liked?

Greenback or the Celestion V Type (NOT V30). I'm with Guitarz, I have a TT40/40 that I just love, but it likes to be pushed.

I have 1x10 combo cab that use with my ghia. I like the Dr Z 10" speaker alot. Greenback is excellent and the 10" gold is also excellent. The Dr Z 10 was actually a surprise. I was able to pick up a pair of those speaker and once broken in they haven't left my cabs. Todd

My favorite lately is a Creamback M. I also dig a V30. It certainly depends on what you’re looking for, but I really like the punch, clarity, and articulation of ceramic speakers... I feel they really let the Ghia’s magic shine through.

Howdy,
Celestion Blue. I also like the 30 watt Weber AlNiCo silver bell for it's big low end and clean tones that are even better than the Blue. Where the blue shines is it allows me to distort at lower volumes and has more...detail and character for raunchy tones.

I'm with bubs42, I really liked the Celestion V-Type with the Ghia. Although, I also really like M-sized magnet Greenback-style speakers (G12M Greenback, G12M Creamback, or better yet practically any "M75" family Scumback speaker) and I think those work well with the Ghia, too--or almost any Z-amp for that matter.

If I have one gripe with my UA Ox, I haven't gotten a great sound with the open back cabs. And, the Blue options are only open back cabs. So, not much chance to kick the tires on a Blue sound. I downloaded some Celestion IRs and the Blue does have a nice sound. But, the IRs come with a rear mic to mix so you get more of the true sound of an open back cab.
Hmmm. I need to mess a bit more with Ox to get the Blues working since they are a popular option.

10” Gold in my 1x10 combo. But I also have a head for the Ghia in which case a WGS Blackhawk sounds great or a 2x10 cab with greenback and v10. I spoke with BW at a festival he played in town a few weeks back and he said he liked the Z10 in his 1x10 combo.

12" Gold. 12" Blue runner-up I liked the cream back, Cream "M", and it's glorious with a 2x12 V30 and anniversary.
When I grab one cab it's my gold.

I play my Ghia everyday plugged into a 10" Eminence Red Fang . Unfortunately they are no longer in production.

I play my Ghia everyday plugged into a 10" Eminence Red Fang . Unfortunately they are no longer in production. Z I had a 10" Red Fang that wasn't busy so this morning I pulled the Greenback out and put the RF in my 10" Studio Cab Ghia. I hadn't tried it before, because I had thought it would be too loud. It's a really efficient speaker.
Once again I've got to tip my ears to Z. I've been using the Ghia for Big Band practice all month with the Greenback and I was going to turn to my Maz 8 for next week's Veteran's Day gig. I felt that the Greenie wasn't punching enough and I've got a couple of solos to do. I'm going to rethink that decision...the Ghia sounds HUGE with the alnico Red Fang. And I've got a Brake Lite in there as well, set to two clicks. It's perfect.
Thanks, Doc!

I have a 2x10 combo. Running the z10 and a gold10. The thing sounds amazing! Had Don do a PPIMV mod over the summer. The amp is extremely dynamic and effectively punches through a dense band mix with ease. I LOVE that amp!!

I don't have my Ghia any longer, but when I did, it had an alnico RF. I tried a Gold once but lost too much headroom.

That's what I'm running and it was unbelievably good yesterday. First time I've gigged it in a good sized room, and it had no problem at all. I was at about 9:00 on the volume, and 1 click on the Brake Lite. Sounded terrific with the Big Band.

Big Band jazz, but Motown and some classic rock like Chicago too. There's about 17 of us, a full sax section, three trumpets, 2 trombones and baritone. 2 singers, 2 guitars, bass & drums. It's a blast.

It was the seafoam green color so it was a Humbucker model originally. I bought it from one of the guys here on the forum.....I'm thinking it was Joshua (fishbeiner).

I just recently got my Ghia (used), and am still getting used to it. It had the Red Fang, which was too loud for my home studio. I swapped the RF for a Pyle Driver MH1020 I had laying around. I’ve always liked the Pyle Driver in other 10” applications, and it sounds great in the Ghia. This is the speaker that Derek Trucks used to use in his Super Reverb. It gives me less volume and earlier breakup. Great tone!

10” Red Fang in a 1x10 combo. So good. Yeah, it’s loud, but what a great sound. I actually just scored another Red Fang Alnico 10 locally for $50!

I love greenbacks. Perfect in a 2x12 and a 4x12. I also love Doc's pairing of V30 and G12H Anniversary speakers.

I've been using a Weber Alnico 50w Blue Dog, but just ordered a Heritage Greenback. I'm interested to record and hear the difference.
