The Collings 290 has been an aspirational guitar for me for a long time. One of the guitars that had left an impression on me 10-15 years back was a Gibson custom shop les Paul special at guitar center Hollywood’s vault I played in my undergrad years. Over the years the Collings 290 has been on my radar, and after obsessing over it for years and watching countless YouTube videos, I finally was in a place where I could afford to pull the trigger! This is an aged one with lollars. The playability is just out of this world. The details that we’re obsessed over every part of this instrument is so evident. Everything from the headstock shape and taper, to the tasteful aging of hardware and finish checking screams quality. The lollar pickups are such a good fit for this guitar for how I use it (clean-mid gain tones when playing out). The clean up you can get with guitar volume is sublime. I often just stay in the middle with both volumes around 7-8 and adjust as needed. Just over the moon with this guitar. I’ve played out with it 4 times already just to make sure it’s the one, and it is. I’ve been drooling over every Collings post here so it’s great to make one of my own! Post your Collings guitars too! Would love to see Em!

Congrats on your Collings! Great guitars! Here's my 290 with a Charlie Christian in the neck and a Lollar P90 in the bridge. It's an homage to the John Lennon New York City concert guitar. Extremely versatile - clean to snarling tones. It's sitting next to my Z-Master - a combination made in heaven!

Congrats on your 290. Collings 290's are awesome. I love mine. I swapped the Lollar P90's with Peter Florance Voodoo P90's and it sounds great.

Nice. I love P90's. I have a pair of Lollars in my EE330. They sound great.

Nice guitar! I picked up an older 360 with mini humbuckers a while back. Collings make some of the best playing guitars out there.

Congrats on that badass looking 290, I've got Lollar p90s in my Collings I30 and love them.
I bet it sounds and plays fantastic. Oh and I'm also a bit jealous, I've wanted a 290 for sometime... Enjoy that Collings.
