I just made a work related trip to Nashville and had a great time. I went to Corner Music and they had just gotten in their first order of Xotic brand guitars. I had heard of this brand before but didn't really know anything about them and actually thought they were a cheap import. Well, turns out they are made in California and are anything but cheap. I'm not a fan of reliced guitars but they had a lightly reliced Tele that was shoreline gold metallic with a roasted flame maple neck and rosewood fingerboard that played like a dream. The set up was perfect, and the tone was unbelievable. They have their own line of pickups and they sounded great. The neck pup was clear and very articulate, not muddy or woofy at all. Had a nice blues/jazz tone on that setting and the bridge pup had a nice country twange with just a little roll off on the tone control. It was the best sounding Tele I have ever played and it was light weight too. No neck dive and not tiring to the old shoulder. It felt like an old guitar that had been played hard for years. The fretwork was great with the ends rounded and smooth. It was hard not to bring it home with me but I just couldn't quite make myself turn loose of a little over 3 grand without a little more research on them such as resale value and such. But if I was a touring pro I wouldn't have hesitated on it for one second. This might have been my unicorn.

Those are nice guitars indeed. The necks are amazing and all parts are supposedly US made. Been looking at the XSC-2 strat type for awhile.

I have an Xotic XSC-1 s-type with 3 single coils. It's the guitar I play the most. Got it in March 2018 so it's about three and a half years old now. They're really nice guitars. I think they are still a bit of a bargain compared to other custom shop guitars. A comparable Fender Custom Shop Strat would be well over $4000. If it inspires you and you enjoy playing it, grab it. Those kind don't come along that often.

I let a Suhr HSS strat get away about 5 years ago. I tried it out and had a hard time putting it down, it played so well and inspired me so much. I decided to buy one later, and in 2017 my wife told me to go pick out a guitar for my birthday. I tried several Suhrs like it but the magic was gone, so I turned to the Firebirds. There were 5 of them and one spoke to me, loud and clear. For me, it was heads above the other ones. So she bought it for me and it ended up being the last birthday present my wonderful wife ever got me, RIP honey.
Point is, if a guitar speaks to you, get it. That Firebird still speaks to me and I love it!

I owned an early 60's Les Paul 3 pickup that was a dream to play embarassed to say how cheap it was to me! In a moment of confusion I sold it and have regretted it ever since! I have friends to this day that still talk about that guitar! This was 40 plus years ago! My point is if you find a guitar that speaks to you grab it and never let it go!

I have a Taylor GSMini acoustic that I bought online for a travel guitar! UnFreaking believable! This never happens with a online purchase ever! This is the best sounding acoustic I own!

I'm intrigued about this mini Taylor. With the short 23" scale would it be slinkier to play than a full size acoustic? I love bending strings and that's made me a primarily electric player for life. Thinkin' about getting one of these little Taylors, they look cool!
Dave, did you get a spruce or mahogany top?
