Been realizing that the fretwork on my '93 American Standard Telecaster (that I've owned since new--my first "new" guitar) had become dull & lifeless, just no longer exciting to play. Time for a refret! But this time, knowing how great the SS frets feel on my Suhrs, I had my eyes on stainless-steel... Enter Aperio Guitar, a small outfit that specializes in ONLY stainless-steel refretting. Got a bolt-on Fender? Super easy--unbolt the neck, ship it to 'em, and several weeks later you have a beautifully-refretted neck. You hear so much grumbling from luthiers about stainless steel (and I get it, yes it's harder and all that) but not from these guys. It's all they do, they know the ropes, and they do it well. Amazing service, too--great communication and you even get pictures of your neck upon arrival AND before departure from their possession! I got my refretted neck back last week, re-installed the neck (I was tentative at first; but yes it really is as easy as unscrewing and then carefully re-screwing 4 big screws), and it's wonderful. Feels pretty much exactly like I remember the guitar playing all those years ago... fresh & new. So glad I did this, and I'd recommend them again. Will probably be sending in my Strat neck (not quite as old, but still aging) for the same exact work within the next couple months.

Wow! I may have to look into this. I have a guy local who refrets, but I don't think he does SS.

Greg quoted a turnaround time of 4-5 weeks when I contacted them today.
