Went to a BBQ yesterday out in the boonies of Colorado and struck up a conversation with one of my wife’s older cousins. He’s 80 and has been a guitar guy since he was a kid. It’s the first time we talked in great detail about gear. Lo and behold, his main guitar turns out to be a ‘64 335 that he bought from a mom and pop shop in Denver in 1964! Holy cow! A real one-owner vintage 335 that he said I could play anytime I wanted.
I asked him what kind of amp he had and he said that until about a month ago he was playing through a ‘64 vibroverb that he bought at the same time he picked up the 335! He sold it because it got too heavy to lug around!
I then asked him what else he had hiding in the closet or under the bed. He said he had a box of stuff, pedals and such, but really couldn’t remember what was in there beyond two Vox wahs from the 60’s! Again, holy cow!
I asked if he had ever thought about selling the 335 and he said that he had received several offers on it, but just couldn’t part with it yet. I told him that if his kids didn’t want it, when he was ready to get rid of it, to please call me first. Who knows if that opportunity will ever arise but maybe, just maybe...

Wow! He's mostly used the same guitar and amp since the 60s? That pretty much let's you know just how good equipment was back in those days and how well they keep going, not to mention the great ton that combination can produce! That's pretty cool.
