Thank you for the responses. Checked out the Support Tab as suggested, but there is no specific detail on whether the amp builder is using a preferred JJ 6V6 tube current rating. Not sure which current rating to request when ordering new JJ power tubes from supplier.

As I recall Doc has said he recommends medium gain on all (or most) designs.

Is there a specific tube current rating that the Dr prefers on the JJ power tube? 35 or 25? Which would fall within the range of "medium gain"? Thanx for the assistance. ian

Thanx for the assistance. ian Ian I think the term medium range harkens back to the good old’ day of the Groove Tubes rating system where a medium range fell between 4 to 7 on that scale. Perhaps ask your tube vendor if they are familiar with that scale and see if they can recommend a set under the current rating system they sell. I think I’ve done that in the past through www.thetubestore.com

Many thanx for the replies. Your assistance is much appreciated. Now just gotta chose between a medium vs low gain rating. Would low gain tubes offer a much more cleaner, less distorted tone when volume increased?

Yes on low gain. Less distortion as the volume is turned up.
