I know there has been some discussion on neo mag speakers here before. I am new to the type though. I have some friends who tried some of the early neo models and were not impressed so I have stayed with conventional ones that have served me well in the past. My first foray into neo speakers are the Neo Creambacks that came in my recently acquired Tone Master Twin Reverb. These things really work well for live playing with a band. I have played them at really high volumes with one band and more reasonable levels with another and they did both jobs well. Well enough that I feel no need to try anything else in the amp. They are "just OK" for low level playing at home but that is not what they were meant for. Neo speakers were not designed for amps that mostly stay at home or in a studio. They are for the players who are constantly lugging gear around from gig to gig or rehearsal. I'm really happy with these. Both "Classic Country" clean and with dirt pedals.

I've not tried one, but am curious. Celestion recently released yet another. Neo V Type.
My understanding is they didn't do se well when first introduced, but they are making some good ground now.

Love my Emi Lil Texas Neos in my Cure and Nova. I wish they made a 10" version. I'd get one for my Champ II (Rivera era).

I'm going make a guess that Doc will eventually make one of the neos available as a speaker in some of his cabinets. Probably all of the builders will. When I bought my first Z the store mentioned that they would do a speaker swap with any other speaker that was available to them, with a price adjustment of course. I don't know how willing stores are to do that now. I wouldn't think it would be a problem since the speakers that come in Zs are the most popular and would be easy to resell. Just depends on how energetic the store employees are.

By that I pretty much mean Celestion and/or Eminence. At one time Jensen made one but I thought they were kinda so-so. You would think there’d be a market for them.

I thought so took, but I purchased the V Type 10's and they are feather light and 70 Watts. The 2x10 Mather "Shorty" with two V Type 10's can be picked up with 1 finger on the handle. I so want to try the Neo V Type, I may order one this week from Sweetwater and give a full report. The V Type has unseated my Red Fangs, and Tone Tubby as my #1 Goto Speaker.

I respeakered my ‘67 Vibrolux Reverb with some Jensen new 10 inchers a couple of years ago and also put an Emmy lil Texas in my Cure (after LT’s recommendation here).; both swaps have been a positive move.

By the way, referencing Jordan's video on Pete Thorn demo'ing the Celestion V-type speaker, if you haven't heard Pete's CD 'Guitar Nerd', do yourself a favor and get it.
Not only is Pete a really great guy, but one of the most fantastic guitar players of our time!
