When I bought my Z-Lux (used) a few years back, the only thing I wasn't crazy about was the aesthetic. I got the blackout version and, while it sounds incredible, it's, well, boring imho. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I sent my Z-Lux chassis in to Don to do the "mkii" upgrades (or whatever we're all calling them) when a thought occurred: would Dr. Z sell me a bare bones Z-Lux ultralight cabinet in blonde? After sending an enquiry to Don, the answer, it turns out, is YES. So my questions to you wonderful people are these: A) Do y'all think it's worth the $425 (plus shipping) for the cabinet I REALLY want and B) do y'all think there is any market for a bare bones, used Z-Lux blackout cabinet?
I've got to make a decision here in about 24 hours, so chime in!
Thanks!

If you like it then it is worth it. There is always a market for cabs. So I say go for it.

Blonde tolex sounds best, especially with the brown\oxblood grille cloth. Somebody out there will eventually want to rehouse their head in a blackout combo cab.

I’d do it. I missed out on a JAZ 20/40 combo cab a while back, the one with the oval shaped front. Was going to slap my Lux in there, but missed the boat. Still wish I’d gotten that...

I agree with the others, if you see yourself keeping this amp for awhile or forever go for it. As you already know it's a great sounding amp and even better with the small refinements after the upgrade. Empty cabs seem to sell on the Z forum for sale page. Do it!

Hey Remember, Black Amps Matter Too
I have spent a few bucks on a number of occasions to change up my Z cabinets, but right now I really like the Black with Z-Wreck or Blackout Grill.
Sometimes getting the right color brings happiness

I can’t remember; which other chassis’s will interchange into the Z-Lux cabinet?

I can’t remember; which other chassis’s will interchange into the Z-Lux cabinet? The EZG-50 interchanges with the Z-Lux, might be others but I know those two do.

I have a Proto Z Lux that has the older cab with it. I love the amp but it stays home a lot because I don't want to carry it!

I have, indeed, pulled the trigger, and will be getting the new cab in blonde with oxblood. It's only money, right!?! *lol* pcns - Amazingly, I already have an interested party. If that doesn't work out, I'll be sure and let you know!

Good job, you won't regret it. I've thought about recovering my Z-Lux in the same style red tolex that Doc used to use, but I hate working with contact cement. Seems like it takes a week for it to wear off my fingers when I do an amp!

Looks sharp! I put contrasting color knobs on my volume and master with some of my amps too! My more complicated amps have even more different colored knobs.

That looks fantastic! Hoping you like the updates also, interested in your thoughts on them. I have cream knobs on my volumes as well and they help me out a lot with finding them quickly...

That is a great looking amp. What I want to know is if it sounds as good as it looks after the update.

So just to go down the rabbit hole a little more and be a perfectionist, anyone know what substance one would use to darken up those chicken head knobs a bit more? I'm thinking an overnight soak in coffee might work, but am open to suggestion. They are "cream" colored, btw.
