Curious if anyone is in love with cables with the TechFlex type material over the wire. I know there are similar products with various names. I got one in the early days from a basement shop, very well built, does what it needs to moving the guitar signal. But it usually is at the bottom of the cable bin because I don't like the look or the feel. I have an old tweed covered cable, and various styles/colors/thickness of more traditional cables. The TechFlex just doesn't do it for me. Wondering if I'm missing something. If you like them is it for more reasons than they have an extra layer of durability, or is that the reason you like them? Are some of the other brands less rough or has the hand feel changed since they first came out? I know, it's not like I'm using cables to dry off when I get out of the shower, but the texture just bugs me.

I have a Divine Noise cable with the TechFlex covering. I have numerous cables from them, but only one with the TechFlex. If that tells you anything. Ha! Although I'm a HUGE fan of Divine Noise. I'm not a big fan of the TechFlex covering though. Makes the cable too "stiff" if you know what I mean. Like the look, love the sound of the Divine Noise cables. Just don't like how it makes it harder to move around with the TechFlex covering.

The last cable I bought was this Ernie Ball cable. I find I really like the nylon braid if the cable get tangled as it seems easier to move around. I suspect this medial is similar to what you refer to in your post. I like this better than all other coverings. The only thing I wish it had is a noiseless plug. Lol, yes, I actually own the pink one. I wanted a bright colour as sometimes people traverse through my Man Cave to get to a spare room and I wanted everyone to be able to see the cable on the floor against my dark carpet and not trip. Im actually looking to buy a longer version as we speak but my local shop doesn’t seem to have them in stock at the moment.

You do you brother. lol I had decided I was going to go all purple for my cables years ago after finding a Lava one that I liked the build and flexibility of. Unfortunately they stopped making that line of cables and didn't use the purple stuff for anything else. However, I've grown to really like ugly/unique colors because there is never any doubt if I have all my cables, or if I've grabbed someone else's when tearing down. After getting a special collaboration cable from Sinasoid and Caroline pedals that was orange (also has the giant silent plug) I have ordered all orange cables in rewiring my pedal board. Sinasoid and some other cable companies that pop up on my feed make a big deal of their stuff with the nylon jackets. That's way I started this thread, wondering if they've changed at all in the last 12 years.

The braid does not bother me. I started using wired IEMs so I have a balanced cable for the IEM along with my regular guitar cable (a PCNS) in a braid wrap when I play with a band now.

I've had braid covered cables of various material, and they're all worn out. My PCNS cables are 4 or 5 years old and look like new. I'm sold on Todd and Patty's stuff, it's bulletproof.
