I'm an overdrive/distortion junkie, always on the trail of the best pedal to drive a relatively clean amp into great cranked 4 hole Marshall type crunch. I shudder to think of how many OD pedals I've bought in the last 20 years but it's a whole bunch. They're all similar and different. Enter the Bogner La Grange. I have been interested in it for years but I made a mistake and bought the Ecstasy Blue and Red. I liked the Red but it was too compressed and the Blue was cool but it didn't really have enough grunt. After spending that much on Bogner pedals I was reticent about taking the plunge, but man...I'm glad I did.
It's a great sounding MIAB type pedal but it has the ability to sound good at different settings, not a one trick pony. It's got nice crunch and the single tone control is very effective. There's also a separate Boost control that you can run with the OD or by itself. It's staged after the OD if you turn them both on. It's a great sounding clean boost by itself that will drive a tweed style amp very nicely all by itself, and then you can put the OD on top for solos. Or the other way around. It's a very cool pedal and I'm super glad that I got it. It's well named, too. Sounds like the Rev Billy G. A+.

We really are living in the best of times for this stuff. The blue and red never did anything for me and puts me off looking at another Bogner pedal. It might be great, but $500+ of dissapointment later, it's a hard sell for me. I'd kind of rather just save up for some other killer z amp. I think JaguarMike must have figured that out a long time ago.

Clips don't do it justice.
