Z-Wreck owners, when you turn your treble control above 3:00 does the sound get really thin? Mine sounds great up until about 3:00 then gets really brittle beyond that. I've only ever played mine, so I don't know if this is normal. Below 3:00 it sounds great, so I think it might be normal.
Thank you!

I don’t own a wreck but I’d imagine this is normal given the interactive nature of the Vox style tonestack. There’s an 8db swing in the lows from treble min setting to max setting. Here’s a fun tool for tonestacks www.guitarscience.net/tsc/vox.htm

If you need it brighter without stealing your bass you can put the treble near 3 o clock and then adjust the cut for even more top end. I imagine that’d be insanely bright and unusable but to each his own Fwiw. The cut is a tone control for the power tubes. So it’s later in the circuit. Adjusting it will not create any interaction with the gain or the treble/bass controls. A lot of guys set the treble until the midrange sits in a place they like. Then dial the high end in with the cut.

Jump to 3:40. A much lesser amp but a helpful tutorial

Yes, above 3pm will be very thin, thats how they roll. For tone experimenting though, try 3p on the treble and turn the bass way up as well, then set the cut to 7a (off) and slowly raise it to add back high treble. The sound will be very scooped and brilliant and deliver some beautiful tones in the strat #2 poition.
The treble on the Z wreck is kind of a reverse mid control. Turn the treble to the other extreme, 9am or lower, bass similar and turn the cut up to add treble. That will be a thick, chunky tone and very cool for bluesy type single note stuff. zwreck is amazing, there is a lot of range in tones across those 3 knobs... lower treble = more mids, higher treble = less mids. Bass and cut to taste.

Just to let you guys know, I added a 3-way bright switch to mine as soon as I got it. I set the tone controls to give me that killer full sound and bring in my highs with the bright switch. It works so well. I don't know how to post pictures here to show you.

You have to upload to a third party image hosting site (I've had great luck with Imgur) and then post the link in a thread. To get the ability to hook up the link you need to press the red "Reply" button, not just the quick reply. HTH...

Good job coppin' the font! Thanks Dave, it's not perfect, but it's the closest I could get. Very valuable switch though, I can tell you that.

Interesting. Based on the placement, I would presume it is not a typical cap across the volume pot? Care to share details? I’ve built an amp so I am knowable with circuits and their lingo.

Hey Jordan, Yes, it's across the volume pot. Middle is no cap, up is 180pf and down is 90pf. Very effective and can accommodate any guitar or pickup very well.

Very cool. I recently stocked up just about every value between 47pf and 200pf to tinker with my Princeton Reverb build. Fun experiment.
