I just picked up a used Maz18 NR Head from GC. I overpaid a bit (+$125) but that's the value of being able to return it for me.
Spotless condition and it sounds amazing through my 1x12 Budda open back cabinet (Creamback 65). The serial number begins with W, so I think that makes it a 2012. My question is related to the boost circuit. The head did not come with a footswitch, but i tried an after market / generic switch and it works fine except the boost is MASSIVE .. not subtle, but HUGE. A little too much boost to be practical for me. Will the Dr Z variable boost foot switch allow me to adjust the level of boost? Thanks in advance.

The variable switch will reduce the volume a bit. The function is actually an EQ/tone bypass switch

Yes. The knob on the variable pedal allows to adjust. Does your Maz have a Master? Since the switch is really just bypassing the eq part of the circuit, if you need it prior to getting the variable pedal you might be able to dial things in ways that make the volume jump less pronounced.
