Alright, let me start this by saying I'm a pedal guy. My main over driven tone is from pedals through the EMS. However, I recently had to leave my pedal board at the church for praise team. I usually like brighter, crunchy tones, with lot's of bite. The EMS through my cab does very few of those things I like in my tone. So without wanting to change amps and without wanting to not play guitar for a few days, I did all that I could to get a brighter tone out of the amp. P-90s, dimed treble knob. Now, what I found was that it was super thick, little bit fuzzy, and absolutely amazing in the mids. I've now ended up diming the bass, putting the mids at about 1-2 o' clock, and diming the treble. I usually tend to use humbuckers because of the styles of music I tend to play, but playing through the P-90s with these settings has me questioning my pedal board. It even sounds great through my SG w/ BurstBuckers.
So the moral of the story (for me at least) is to start trying every different setting with my amp. Changing gain levels, tone knobs, switching out pedals on my board, and maybe the most important...
Single coils are sick.
Cheers.
PS: Sorry if I put this in the wrong area Mr. Lefty.

Great post. You never know all the magical spots on the knobs until you try them. Keep rocking those P90s. Gotta love P90s.
