If anyone noticed any of my other posts, I've gone overboard the last couple of months buying amps. Cure, then Jetta and finally, yesterday, Z-Plus. When I got the Plus home and first turned it on, got this weird smell, sorta like something burning. It got better the longer I played and finally, after about 30 minutes, was pretty much gone (unless I had just gotten used to it). More of the same today when I turned it on. I noticed that I had that same kinda smell with my Cure when I first brought it home also. Not so much with the Jetta. My first guess is that it smelled like dust that was cooking off the tubes. Then maybe the tube dampeners that are on the power tubes. Then maybe the writing on the tubes themselves. I've never had a smell like that from any other amp that I've ever owned, and I've played tube amps for the last 30+ years. So, any ideas, and please don't say it's the mojo burning off......

If new, then probably the tube dampeners out-gassing a little. That will completely disappear soon. New amps do smell a little when new and being used. Lots of things settling in. Enjoy it while it lasts!

The new amps do that. I always hate when it wears off.
