I ask b/c it appears to be a high-gain amp, and as a hobbyist builder, any time I try to make an amp with more than 2 stages of gain (like a JCM or TW build) with just stock AC filaments, I get too much hum. Fender-style 2-stage builds are no problem. A local tech said anything with more than 2 stages needs DC. The new Soldanos have DC, where in the past they didn't. People say it's the modern inferior tubes that make it necessary. Some builders on forums say DC shouldn't be necessary. Just wondering how the doc and his team feel about it.

The CAZ - 45 with its 5 stages of gain uses AC filaments. Zero 60 Hz. filament hum. With proper layout, adequate filament source currant, and grounding I have never found DC filaments to be needed.
