is it normal to run the bass on full with a Z Plus ? I run the Master at 10, Pre at 11, treble at 11, mid at 12, Cut at around 10:30....I use mainly Teles and Strats....with bass on full it is just barely enough and I have tried the stock speaker, Creamback 65 and a Vintage 30...my silverface Deluxe Reverb has tons more bass and I run the bass at 3 on the Deluxe!--any ideas ?

I think I set my bass on the Z-Plus to approximately 4, same with my Maz 38. Your description is not something that I have heard before on the Z-PLus. What is the history of the amp? Are you using the footswitch, is it possible that you have the EQ or Tone Stack Bypass engaged?

Mine is usually 9:00 to 10:00 - really just where I start hearing the bass.
I’d start by going guitar straight to the amp to remove any pedals from the equation, and remove the EQ bypass pedal as well. Then see what happens.
Edited to add: I have a blue in the cab and run a 1x12 extension with a Z12.

I run mine with the volume 3:00, Master 10:00 to 12:00, treble 12:00, Mid 1:00 and Bass 12:00 with a creamback 65 and have plenty of bass for humbuckers and single-coils. I've also run the Z-12 in it with similar settings and again plenty of bass. By plenty of bass I mean I have turned it up so that I can hear it come in and then give it a little more. That's what I would do with a Deluxe also.

Is this a new symptom or have you dialed it in this way from the beginning (how long have you had it)? If known, then we can dive into or skip the discussion about the differences in single ended vs push pull output designs. Beyond that, if this is a new issue then power tubes would be my first guess. As they decay with use they have a harder time with low frequencies.

On my MAZ 8, which has the same preamp and also a single-ended power amp (different tubes), I run the bass considerably higher than I do on Fender BF/SF amps. I am Tele guy also and on the MAZ I have it on 2 to 3 o'clock. Whereas my Fenders worked best no higher than #4 on the dial. I tend to run the Bass on DR's a little higher.

I set mine for a gig a week ago at about 10:30-11:00. Maybe a little lower at home in my studio/ room as there is no acoustic treatment.

I'm running my Z-Plus bass around 11:00 or so. Z-12 Speaker. It's plenty of bass.
In another thread you talked about running the amp in stereo. Are you running stereo with the Z-Plus? You might have a phase issue. If so, you could verify it by reversing the connections on one of the amp's speaker terminals. You'll know immediately, out of phase makes for WAY less bass. Just a thought, I hope it helps.
