Just acquired Maz 18 NR and I’m thinking of trying a Lil Texas Neo. Any experience or predictions?

I predict it’ll lose 6 pounds and sound great. But in the Maz 18 I’d bet it’s sister, the Tonkerlite, would sound even better. Kind of an American vs. British thing.
Please do keep us posted on your results.
And welcome to the forum!

I would love to know how this shakes out, I have considered putting a WGS G12C in mine ... an American-voiced speaker ... just to see how it responds. I have a WGS et65 in it right now and frankly, the highs are really shrill sometimes.
Please post when you get results on either the Lil Texas or Tonkerlite (whichever one you end up with).

My Maz Jr (Reverb) sounded pretty cool with Doc's Z-12, so I'm guessing the G12C would sound nice too.

The Lil' Texas is a very good speaker. Not just "good for a neodymium speaker," but actually good in its own right. Just like lowbudget said, the Lil' Texas will have a slight "American" angle on it (however, keep in mind that the Texas Heat that it's based on is actually an American/British blend anyway, so maybe not totally American sounding). I've never played the Tonkerlite myself, but I would suspect if you want to go more "classic rock British" than the Lil' Texas, then the Tonkerlite would be the next logical step. Please let us know your findings...

I’ve used both the lil Texas and the tonkerlite and Mark has it correct, the lil Texas leans American and the tonkerlite leans British. Also found the Texas heat (which I really like) is a little more American than the lil Texas.

I still haven’t tried the lil Texas neo yet because it’s in an amp that’s a pain to access the speaker. I already had a blue alnico and that’s what I’m using now. Mostly love it but it’s a bit bass heavy. My speaker cab has an open back and it’s placed near a wall which partially accounts for the boomy bass response. I’m also curious about the G1230 Anniversary.

I believe G12H30 is the normal stock speaker for the Maz. For a long time I felt that speaker had no mids, but I'm using guitars with fatter sounds and re-dialed the controls. It sounds pretty good in the basement now. I had gigged the amp a few times with a Reaper HP that sounded nice and a G12M-65 which also sounded nice, but different. I also like it with certain Vintage 30's. The Maz sounds really good with a variety of speakers.
