Sometimes I hate online buying, it's so easy to click and wait for UPS.
You know I've been wondering why I can't dig Telecasters, and I decided to roll the dice again after writing that post. So I bought a Squire Classic Vibe Thinline w/humbuckers AND I bought a Harley Benton TE-30 from overseas for $109 (+ $69 shipping). I couldn't decide whether to go with singles or humbuckers and I had really good luck with another cheap guitar from Thomann (LP knockoff that's really good) so I went for it.
Anyway, I got them a couple of days ago and I did a setup on the Thinline yesterday. I'll gig it this morning at church, but I've been really enjoying it.
The Harley Benton is nice too, it really is amazing the quality of stuff coming out of Indonesia today. It's got a nice neck and good fretwork. A little heavy at 8 1/2 lbs, but it has an ash body and it sustains like crazy. And for the price it sounds amazing. I may put some nice pickups in it, but right now I'm diggin' the Squire Thinline. Great tone and good playability, light weight (7.1 lbs) make a fun little guitar. I bet it's going to really rock through the upcoming CAZ-45.

Very nice Dave! My Squire Thnline had the 2 SC pickups and was a mahogany body.
My only comments are around replacing the electronics. I planned to do that with mine, but quickly found out the standard Fender Tele switch was too deep. So I scrapped my plan for the gut job on the electronics and just enjoyed it as stock.

The black guard tele I recently bought was my first tele. The thing I've learned over time is that the tone knob is your friend and don't be afraid of the extremes. You can take that tone knob to about 2/3 the way back on the bridge pickup and have a VERY usable tone. I have definitely learned not to be afraid to ride that tone knob.

That's my default Tele tone knob setting also. No treble bleed kit on my Tele, so this setting means there's some "bright" available to add back in if you back the volume down and want to bring back some top end.

I just discovered it last night myself. I've been rolling it back about half, then just experimented with rolling it back further and said to myself, "This sounds really good!"

After joining a country band last year, I started playing Telecasters again. I bought a Custom Shop Telecaster with a Seymour Duncan Humbucking neck pickup and it has become my number one.
I love the simplicity of the design and the functionality of the Telecaster. I used to switch back and forth between a Stratocaster and a Les Paul during the set. Now I play one guitar all night and only bring a backup in case something breaks.
I recently found a 2008 James Burton signature Telecaster that was in perfect condition with case candy still wrapped. Of course I couldn’t resist it. And every time I go I into a guitar shop, I grab a Telecaster.
The Telecaster has become my new sickness. Best wishes on your journey.

I'm amazed at the range of timbres I can get out of the humbucker Thinline Tele. It'll give me nice sweet fat tone, or it can bite like a doberman. It's light weight and I like the neck. I'm playing it for the second gig at church tomorrow morning, rehearsed with it today. It's a great instrument. I'm still on the fence about the single coil Harley Benton, but I'm chalking that up to cheap pickups. It plays quite well for what it is though. I just wish it were lighter, it's a bit closer to 9 lbs than it is to 8!

I had a heavier alder tele/ somewhat of a dog and put vintage + in it and is the tone I wish I never f'ed with....guitars long gone as well.Kool dave there a great simple axe.

Here are my Telecasters. I apologize for the background, but the photo was taken in the “Fender Side” of my music room.
