So I picked up a Monza (non-mv) 1x12 combo loaded with a Celestion G12H30 Anniversary and I’m loving it. I threw a NOS Sveylana 5751 in V1 and NOS RCA 12AX7 in V2. I am trying a completely different approach to get the tone I want than I’ve ever done before. Obviously the Monza isn’t a clean pedal-platform amp which is more like I’m used to. I just can’t say no to the beautifully fat gain I’m getting from the Monza though so I wound up trying something and I’m extremely happy it’s working for me. I picked up a Mad Professor Evolution Orange Underdrive which allows me to clean the amp up while also scooping out the mids yet retaining my lows and highs. So now I’ve got a nasty fat mid range focused dirty tone and a nice Fender-esque scooped mid clean tone. The cleans aren’t pristine Twin Reverb cleans but more like a deluxe reverb on the edge of breakup but it does the trick for me. This is all with my Les Paul or ES-335. I get a little cleaner with my tele of course. I’m not sure if I’m late to the party on this but I’m digging it so far.
On a separate note, what power tubes are you all running or can recommend? I still have the JJ EL84’s in it but was thinking of some NOS 7189’s.

Welcome to the forum. I’ve owned 2 MV version Monza’s. tube swapping is a personal choice, but on most Z amps, as most people realize, what the Doc puts in them originally, is what works best. good luck. go to the website, click on support, then tubes and bias info, and it will tell you what tubes were originally in it.

I like the JJ's in mine. And there is a great PPIMV Master Volume mod that the shop will do for you. The Monza is so aggressive and gets there so fast that I couldn't imagine having one without it! Mine's a 2014 model, I think. It's well worth considering.
And welcome to Z-Talk, it's the best corner of the internet!

So my buddy sent me a set of NOS Siemens EL84’s in the Monza and they sound fantastic! A little less wooly than the JJ’s and I’m noticing a little tighter low end and less honk in the mids.
