I decided last year that I'd get a lot more use out of my Nova head if I would convert it to a combo. I contacted Sheree and almost pulled the trigger on a combo cab, but I got cold feet as I wasn't sure about "flipping" the panel(s) so it would look right. Fast forward to this month. I recontacted Sheree and bought a Studio Lite cab for it. I can't be more pleased with the results. I decided to go with the Eminence Lil Texas Neo speaker and the whole shebang weighs 30.6 lbs and sounds killer. I'd like to thank Sheree for taking me seriously the second time around when she could have blown me off as a tire kicker. Also, thank you Dave (premiumplus) and Brian (purpletele) for giving me the confidence to flip the front panel. Full disclosure, I didn't flip the rear panel, but I kinda like it....when I stand in front of the amp and bend over to look at the rear panel, I can read it! Thanks also goes to the Z staff who provided a totally complete cab including speaker wiring harness, all hardware needed, and a Nova tube chart! Fantastic detail work. And since it didn't happen without photos here's Nova s/n 5 before and after:

Excellent, Lou. Makes me wonder why you went with a head in the first place

Are you going to sell the head cab? I'm not sure yet. If I do, someone is going to get a good one. I have the original box as well as a S Slips clamshell cover.

Thanks, drop me a message if you do, I'd be interested in purchasing it. I just picked up a Maz 18 combo at a good price and want to turn it into a head.

A 30 lb. Nova combo! Well done. So you like the way the Lil Texas Neo sounds? Hm. What speaker were you using before and how does it compare?

It's in the same "American" camp as the Z 12. It's a little more efficient and can handle more power, plus it shaves about 4-5 lbs of weight. Prior to the conversion, I was using the Nova with a Mesa wide body 1-12 open back cab. It had the Mesa C90 but I replaced it fairly quickly with the Lil Tex.

Interesting - I don't see that speaker on any site that sells Eminence, nor on their site. Where did you get it?

Oh wow, no wonder. I wasn't looking there. Their web site is a little disorganized...

Cool conversion. Did the mounting hardware align or did you drill new holes on the chassis?
