Hi, I own a Z-Lux and loving it dearly, but I am also GASing intensely for a ZWrek Jr. There is no Dr.Z Dealer where I live (Israel) which means I need to order from a european vendor both for power requirements (220v) and shipping costs. There is also VAT here which makes it a very expensive experience, as I have learned when importing the Lux from Germany and a CS start from the UK. Because of shipping costs, I am considering ordering the head, and using it interchangeably with the Zlux using the Zlux combo as a Cab for the ZWrek Jr head. I will get the cab (or a cab) at some point in the future.
Does that make sense? will it sound good? Its a different speaker, alright (the Z12). But the z12 is a smooth type speaker. Does it make more sense replacing the Z12 with Celestion creamback (which I heard works nice in a zlux).

Welcome to the Forum In short, I'm sure you could make it work with the Z-12 and be happy. However, you may not be getting the best of what Jr. was intended to be. I understand the pains of importing (I'm in Eastern Canada and source many things from the US) as I deal with higher shipping costs as well as a similar tax (your VAT is my HST (15%)). The first thing I will say is that the VAT is applied if you import or buy locally. There may be some import duties but that should be minor. If the only reason for ordering a head now is to reduce shipping costs (and you will maybe import a matching cab in the future), I would seriously consider ordering a combo Jr. The weight is not hugely different (although a bigger box and weight that should attract more expensive shipping) from a shipping perspective. You will pay similar shipping costs in the future if you import a stand alone cab and by that point you will have imported a cab and head. Unless you want a head to mate with multiple cabs (that's what I do) then buying the head is a good move. However, if all you really want is to have 2 great, unique amps I'd order the combo and pay the little extra import costs on the combo. That way the Z-Lux and the Jr. combos are set up exactly as the designer intended.

+1 on Keith's advice. I own both the Wreck and the Z-Lux. Get the combo. Sure, it's a little bit more, but you'd have two complete rigs. Plus, the combo will be a lot easier to resell if you end up not liking it, which I highly doubt.
I didn't like my Zlux with the Creamback. The Z12 is the perfect speaker for that amp.

Thanks for your responses. I'd happily get the combo, but then we get into a space issue. I need to take measurements, I don't think there is enough room between the openned door and the desk for two combos. Perhaps I can stack the Wreck on top of the lux, though that frightens me somewhat... It maybe be too close to the bottom of my wall of guitars :-)
