EE-50001 was delivered yesterday! I've been using a Z Wreck for the last few years and it was the end all amp for me. I never thought I would purchase a new amp or find one that could replace it but when the Doc announce this, I had to get it! And man it's awesome! Of course it was announced three days after I purchased a Stingray but I'm not going to complain about picking up that amp. I switched out the 5Y3 rectifier tube and put in a 5AR4 because I preferred the speed setting on the ZW. This thing sounds killer! Can't wait to get it to rehearsal and really open it up!

I'll be interested in hearing your comparison between the Wreck and the Wreck Jr. I have the Wreck and love the Speed /Comfort options, but I prefer the Speed option too. I run my Wreck with the volume around 10am. Even then, it's a loud amp. Doc said there isn't much difference tone between the two when ran that way. The main difference being the MV. Can you get the Paisley cleanish tone at much lower volume with the Jr?
Did you change the head out with another Red Z cab?

Doc is right, I don't hear much difference in tone. I haven't had a chance to crank it up though.

Guys don't get your pannies in a bind. I did have a Red Z Wreck cab head in stock , left over from pre-Black days. He did pay a premium to receive a Red Z Wreck Jr head. I asked he not flaunt it. oh well . His call.

Sorry, Doc. I didn't mean to flaunt. I was unaware of your request. I would not have posted had I known.

It's OK I did tell Humbucker to to pass on the request , maybe they didn't , no problem. Glad your happy. And I just wanted to let the guys know that that cab was in house and you paid a premium to get it.

Came red from the factory! Lol...that's a kick in the groin I'm o/k now Keith - I think that color is “high intensity black.” It compliments the stock “dark red.”

"I see a Red Wreck and I want to paint it Black, No colors anymore I want it painted Black......." Z Would you of ever thought a color change would have caused so much chaos, depression, and dissention in the ranks. now if you take away the RED jewel lights, people will be jumping off buildings! (lol)

If you were just swapping out the speaker in the combo, couldn't you use a 16 ohm greenback?

From the photos, the combo uses an 8 ohm greenback. I think I’m you could safely use a 16 ohm, but the mismatch might affect the tone. Plus, Doc says use an 8 - you don’t want to get discharged “Against Medical Advice!”

If you were just swapping out the speaker in the combo, couldn't you use a 16 ohm greenback? The head seems to have the 4/8/16 ohm taps on the back panel. I wonder if the combo only has the 8 ohm wired?

I looked at the head and saw the 3 taps, but didn't look at the combo. maybe that explains it.

Both combo and head have 4,8,16 ohm speaker outs.
