Definitely not a high gain amp, though it does have great gain. It would be great for blues and rock in my opinion. I have the full size Wreck and that’s basically my style.

Welcome to the Forum! A lot of good people and information here. If you are not in a hurry to dump your present rig, you might want to wait until summer. Doc is coming out with a higher gain amp in conjunction with Carol Ann Amps designer (high gain yet warm sounding) . Sounds like it might just what you are looking for!

Thanks Stuart , Mike . This is tuff . Im not a fan of country ( no offense to anyone ) growing up on rock only , but watching videos on the Wrecks concerns me , there's a lot of country in the vids . The "dig in" aspect of an original Wreck , from clean to grit ,with harmonic content on tap I want to experience . The DB4 is the rocks, really nice ! . That's about it for gain on me.

Rock/Zep...to digin blues and 54 years old? It sounds like you're NOT looking for a high gain amp? Jetta Ghia Z-plus These three get my vote...oh, of course the wreck Jr will be on the list.
---------------------------------------------- EDIT
This might help a bit:
Jetta: Exile on Main Street tone Ghia: If I had to, I'd place this amp in the vintage Marshall camp. (mostly)
Z-plus: Pure Class A so it will have a different 'feel' and compression Wreck Jr: Vox tone

Honestly..... If i was 54, a moderate beginner and didn't play with a band/gig, i'd look at a Kemper. No reason to be tied to one or more physical amps.

Hi Jam, welcome to the forum. In terms of gain structure, the Z Wreck (and Jr.) have the most dynamic and complex gain of any amps in the line (the NOVA and Z-Plus get close too). That's not to say it's hi gain, it's just that the overdrive is very blooming, harmonically detailed, and has a lot of complexity. It can sound like the amp is ready to explode when it's turned up! So fear not when it comes to rock and dirty blues. While a lot of country players like this amp because it's edge of break up overdrive gets that sort of Paisley sound, inbetween clean and overdriven, turn it up further and you get into the sort of territory Greg V demonstrates in his demo:

The amp is a masterpiece.

The teaser vid would indicate that the ZW Jr can be pushed into some pretty gain-y territory when cranked (which sounds awesome, btw), but there's also a very brief clip on Instagram in which it sounds just like the classic ZW tones we're all used to. So, short answer--yes! Will let you know in more detail when mine arrives in early February.

Check Dave Baker’s demo of the Z Wreck Jr - you’ll get a sense of that touch sensitivity:

I just purchased a Jetta and it's amazing for blues and rock. Fat muscular tone and sounds absolutely unreal with a low gain OD into the front. The natural break up of the amp is also fantastic. Simple control, light weight, and affordable. Zwreck Jr also looks amazing tho. I wanted something with a cleaner sound that I could push with pedals so I went with the 30 watt Jetta instead. "Tumbling Dice" off Exile on Main Street is a great example of the Jetta. For only an extra few hundred bucks though the Jr might be worth it! Sounds like an amazing amplifier

The honeymoon is going strong 30 days in ! With the deluxe or the 2061x , turned up 1/2 way with some drive ,it sound pretty good .
This new amp needs nothing. I'm using a 212 ob cab w/gb, gh12. This was a big part in me being content over a 112 .
