Arrived yesterday, finally got a chance to crank it up a bit this a.m. For a $600 Les Paul (used, obviously), I don't think you can beat this thing. It's 7.4 lbs of badass, basically. Will swap out pickups for a DiMarzio super distortion humbucker/p90 in the bridge, and a DiMarzio DLX Plus humbucker/P90 in the neck, which should kill that 60-cycle buzz and give it some extra wallop. Plays great, looks, well, interesting (like it's got scales--kinda wish it was the green one), will make an excellent cheapo knockaround guitar for bar gigs, etc. Will post a photo here shortly.

I almost bought one of these when they were new. Weird but cool. Nice catch.

Happy NGD! I have one of the Guitar Of The Week versions they did in 2007. It's a regular LP studio but with the BFG electronics and pickups. I bought it new and it has been one of my main guitars ever since, although I did add a bigsby and swapped the positions of the 3-way toggle and the kill-switch. personally, I found the stock pickups to be super versatile and sound fantastic through every amp I've used it with.
Enjoy!

Nice! I've always thought those were pretty cool - never seen one in person, though.

Here's the store pic. No kill switch, stock P90s (will replace with diMarzio humbuckers in cream), 7.4 lbs. of rock n' roll baditude. Sounds and plays surprisingly good, but that P90 hum has got to go.

Are you getting P90 sized humbuckers? The look is unique and it'd be a shame to rout it out for buckers but do as thou wilt.

Here's the Lizard King with the Dimarzios--it's a rock n roll beast (pictured here with Big Pank, my other recent acquisition). We're lucky to have a really great local luthier/guitar repair/tech in these parts, and he did a few other little detail-y things that really helped--took some fine steel wool to the back of the neck to give it a much drier feel, also smoothed off a few sharp fret ends, and generally cleaned up what needed cleaning up. Plays and sounds stellar--best $600 guitar I could hope to own. For all the Henry weirdness, once in awhile Gibson found an acorn under his tenure, and this is one of them.
