Who's had them and what did you think. I'm having a pickup dilemma, and was thinking about them.

I think I had one of these in the neck position of my Suhr tele, along with a Blues Special in the bridge. (I might have even sold that set here. Did you buy them from me?) If memory serves me correctly, they're really nice/smooth-ish but very P90 sounding without any noise.
However what I really just wanted was a low-output humbucker but didn't realize it at the time. I think I took it out because it didn't have that wide, compressed feel that humbuckers have. Ended up with a Suhr Thornbucker and so far I've liked that. Have also since found out that I guess I'm not a P90 guy anyway(?) so maybe that was my problem too.

I've had them in my main guitar, the big Stonetree, since I got it at least 12 years ago (maybe longer). I love those pickups. They sound great with all kinds of amps. I think they kind of have their own sound. There's a P90 thing in there but as he builds them 3x3 they are single coil but they are hum cancelling too. I really love them.

What were yours wound to, the stock 8200/9200, or something different?

I had one in the bridge of a strat for a long time. Really loved that thing. Like Eric said, its got its own vibe going in that is reminiscent of a P90 but not exactly. Very cool pickup!

I ended up contacting Lindy Fralin and swapped it out for the Big Single which I like much better. The p92 is a darker pick up as compared to Fralins other 2 in that category.

I like dark. I'm not a "bright and ice pick clean" guy. I'm actually thinking about a slightly over wound (8400) P-92 in the neck, and a "hum-cancelling p-90 in the bridge. (per their suggestions) they are going into a very thick bodied guitar.

After a while with it I got the impression that it would be well suited in a bigger body jazz guitar. Some might argue with that but it was just my take on it.
