Hey guys...I've become totally addicted to the Dr. Z stuff, and just picked up a used Monza (V1) Head. (without MV, BUT its the surf green, and it was priced right!!!! ). I am having an issue I wasn't really expecting, as its pretty loud when the "Drive" knob is dimed...My issue is that the Volume knob has a pretty substantial amount of travel before the volume is even effected. i.e.: I turn the volume from 0 (off) to about "8 o'clock" before it becomes audible. Has anyone had this issue in the past, and subsequently replaced their "volume" pot and corrected it??? Love the tone, yes, pretty loud, but looks awesome, and sounds like a Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've dropped the chassis and sprayed good cleaner in the pots, they all work fine, but there's still the blank space/travel at the beginning portion of travel of the Volume knob.
Thanks for any assistance at all!!!

Congratulations on scoring the Monza! Welcome to the Forum...
My Monza's volume has a little bit of movement also, but not much. Isn't silent-then full on. But gets full sounding and increases loudness rather quick. The taper could be better, but isn't bad. Mine has the M/V - hard to imagine this amp without it.

Thank you, both...I've Emailed the Dr. Z Support Email address above. Ray, My volume does increase pretty quickly once I hit that 8 o'clock position...But I just move to the side...the Z-Best 2X12 is such a killer (loud) cabinet!!!!!

Got word there is a replacement pot that will have more of a "normal"( ) volume increase... I will order a good one and let you know how it goes.

What value is the suggested pot (and taper type)?

UPDATE: So I finally had the volume pot swapped out...and it made a world of difference. Also had a 12AX7 go out on me, so I had my repairman check the amp out entirely (Hadn't had it looked at, I bought it used)and he also replace the pot with an exact match, and it's awesome.
