I've been contemplating the Ruby for the Z Wreck. Reviews seem very positive over on TGP, aside fro ma few folks who still swear by the Golds.

I love the Ruby in my Plus. Swapped it out a couple of months ago and it gets sweeter as it breaks in. Expensive, but I got a great deal from Gear for Music. Less than 250 shipped. .

I went back and forth from the stock Z-12 to a Gold, to a Creamback M65, to a G12H, and back to the Z-12. I like it best overall. How does the Ruby compare to the Gold?

Ruby to my ears has just enough of the chime to cut and be tasty...gold can get a little strident to my ears after being with the ruby's slightly rolled topend...there all good to my ears though...golds going to always be in one of my amps.

Not a bad comparison, if one can disregard the exuberant commentary.

I have confirmed my fondness of the Cream Alnico.
Ruby is a little dark but so is my humor and music, so I have that going if I choose to drop a couple of benjis on another speaker.
