Id love to have something like this to replace my $800 Gibson Studio, which has hot Burstbucker Pro pups, but this guitar would cost me $6.400 CAD tax included in Canada. I love the unique vibe and aesthetics of is guitar, though. Maybe If our dollar goes to par again someday !

..lower the bridge.. a little goes a long way sometimes? Believe me, I've tried that. It's a half inch below the stings now. About to sit down with it right now and do some exploration. I want to see if there is a pickup model label underneath it. I've reached out to Huber, the pickup maker haeussel.com/index.php?id=22&L=1 and a guy that sells Haeussel pickups on reverb. None have responded....yet. All in Germany. It is the weekend though. I want to go with that brand, just a less hot more vintage style humbucker. Their '59 model probably. I just want to know what's in it to have a reference point. The P-90 sounds great. Just hope it matches up with a weaker, clearer bridge pickup. The normal man would have just passed on this one and bought a guitar that's just right with no effort. I like the instrument enough to put forth the challenge. It is a cool little piece!

Actually, I looked up some reviews after your post and Dan from The Pedal Show has one and that's the only thing he changed was the hotter pickup.

Actually, I looked up some reviews after your post and Dan from The Pedal Show has one and that's the only thing he changed was the hotter pickup. I saw Dan's review too after I started looking. I gave it a fair shake and was hoping it was too hot for him, but not for me. Not the case. I really dig the block inlays on his guitar. But after much looking a searching I thought that looked a little fancy for a stripped down guitar. ( Still dig it though....even though I never wanted a Les Paul Custom) Mine does have an ebony board though. A special upgrade to this model. Normally has rosewood....unless it's the Custom model like Dan's. Well...as I feared, but was hoping not, these are custom winds for Nik Huber Guitars. Guess I'll wait a few days for some info that I requested. If not, I'll order a Haeussel 59 and see how that works out.

Here is the video Keith spoke of.... Mine is Mahogany, not Spanish Cedar. Weighs in at just under 7lbs.

Wow, the flame maple on that neck! What a cool guitar... simple yet elegant. Love the neck-P90 + bridge-humbucker setup too. Congrats!

I just put "my" strings on it. DR Pure Blues 11-50 and man what a difference! Came with Elixers 10-46 that I don't care for. Bridge pickup is still dark, but the tone knob has a pull coil tap to turn it into a single coil. In single coil mode is brighter more like what I'm used to with a bridge humbucker....but it's not a humbucker anymore. (60 cycle hum) HOWEVER, with the coil tap on and both pickups on, it's humbucking again. AND...it's got a treble bleed cap, so it brightens up as the volume knob goes down. Very usable. If I change to a brighter pickup, it may make it too bright when turning volume down....hummmm
Oh, and another thing is the bridge. Best wrap tailpiece I've found. Very comfortable and perfect intonation. It's Aluminum made by Huber.
Sorry....but more demo's. Here's one I just found. In the second one especially, Josh Smith manipulates the coil tap and pickups.

I like yours with the binding on the top only. Same here, plus the non-painted back with the contour looks great.

I could convince myself that that dolphin II at humbucker will be my last guitar...my wife would never let "myself" live it down though.

That's one beauty. I really love the neck, it's just too cool. Plus the pickup combo is brilliant.

I love this guitar! Bonding with it nicely...
I got both replacements pickups I ordered. The 1959 sounds amazing. Almost don’t even want to try the 1959 Plus, but I got it so will drop it in soon, The P90/humbucker configuration is really cool!
Sound clips coming soon~

This thing sounds amazing with the regular 1959 bridge pickup. I’ve almost convinced myself I don’t even need to try the hotter 1959 Plus. Playing with height adjustments and love the tones. Don’t think I need anything hotter.
It also mates extremely well with the P90 at the neck. I’ve seen at least one Krautster II with a ‘59 in the bridge. Puzzles me why this is not Huber’s standard configuration.
The Custom Huessel Hot Bridge pickup will be for sale soon. With the Huessel 1959 Plus right behind it. .... maybe...lol
Curiosity killed the cat!!
