(edited for update)
I wanted to give a brief update (and I will be editing the initial post in the event that someone comes across this post but doesn't scroll down) about my DR Strings situation.
I decided, before giving the strings away or recycling them to reach out to DR Strings again. They were more than accommodating. They even encouraged me to shop around and try out some of their different strings. I ended up getting several packs of Veritas, Dragon Skin, and Tite Fit. They replaced everything and did right by the customer...they just kept a customer for life! The packaging has been completely redesigned and they use an all new (fully vetted) anti corrosion package. If you've had a bad experience in the past with DR, I would encourage you to give them another try. I dealt with a guy named Anthony - he was great.
Throwing this out there...
Has anyone else had any trouble with DR Strings?
I liked them and so I decided to buy quite a few sets 3 or 4 boxes...36-48 sets. I didn't move through them as quickly as I thought I might, but I didn't figure that it would be much of an issue since they are all sealed and in their corrosion resistant packaging. Unfortunately, every G,B,E (unwound) string is rusted right out of the package now. The strings come in their "anti-corrosion paper packages" however, everywhere that the string touches itself is rusted. The strings are dead right out of the package. I have about 18 sets left...I reached out to DR when I had ≈24 sets left and they sent me 3 of each unwound string. Needless to say, I thought that was a bit of a bummer. Does anyone have any experience with this, or does anyone have any contacts at DR that I could reach out to?
I'm going to try once again and hope for the best.
Some interesting reading about the corrosion issue and them suing the anti-corrosion paper company.
