I am enjoying my Dr. Z Monza head. It was built in Feb. 2012.

Congrats and welcome to the Forum! A lot of great people and information here. The Monza is a great amp and a good introduction to the Z world. Be careful though, they can be addictive!

Indeed. Congrats and Welcome. I've longed called the Monza "A rock 'n' roll BEAST" I totally agree with premiumplus (Dave) (Dave) about sounding great quiet or LOUD, and I also smile (fondly) at his observation because the Monza was notorious for its SHEER VOLUME. When I was looking into one (I only play at home) it was shortly after the ppimv was added and lots of Z-Brothers said no way it was going to work as an at home amp. And who can blame them for thinking that

Thanks everyone! A long time ago, I had a 5 watt Mini-Z amp.
Although, I like just grabbing a Princeton or other small amp to jam or gig with, I am starting to gravitate towards more powerful amps, again.
This 20 watt Monza does things few amps can do, equally - it gets a clear, clean sound and can distort anywhere from on the edge breakup to a Hendrix fuzz tone and beyond. Also, the Monza sounds excellent at the lowest possible home practice volume. Obviously, it sounds the best cranked, but it really is fun to play out of, at all volume levels. I'll eventually try to record some sound clips and post some sound files and/or videos.
The transformer is massive in the Monza and the construction looks very rugged.

Did you get the combo or head? What speaker are you using it with? I love the Monza, perfect for Gibbons tone and no need for an Expandora.

Got Monza head. Using two 12" speaker Marshall cabinet at home. It appears to be a Jubilee model cabinet. For hauling around, using some smaller one 12" cabinets, like a Mesa Boogie one 12 cabinet.
