I’ve had 3 different Maz Jrs and a Z28 and they were awesome workhorse amps and built like a tank. So, I decided to venture out and get the Z Lux. So far I’m loving it but haven’t taken it out for rehearsal or a gig yet. What are your favorite settings and what pedals do you find work best with it. I play Classic/Southern Rock, Country and R&B/ Blues. Thanks for any input.

Congrats--it's a great amp! So nice I own it twice! I generally run pedals always on, so my settings are kinda weird, and it depends to some extent on whether I'm running at half or full power. But typically for a gig I'd run M & V both at about noon or a little below, T at about 10:00 (it's a fairly bright amp), M at noon, and B at about 2:00, depending to some extent on the guitar (I usually gig with a Les Paul or related). It loves pedals of all sorts--for dirt pedals really any quality OD will work great, but I typically keep a Jetter GS-124 on my board along with a Wampler Velvet Fuzz and a clean boost. After years of searching that's the combo that works for me these days--haven't changed in more than two years. I don't use the loop (too many cables) or the EQ bypass/boost, although others here use one or both with great success.

Does yours have an effects loop? Mine doesn’t but I would like to possibly add one.

I LOVE my Zlux! I own the Wreck and the Remedy but I gig the ZLux in a country classic rock cover band exclusively. It just has everything I need.
My tone settings are different every show, but my volume and master are generally the same. I play Tele's and I like to keep the amp cleaner or edge of breakup and then use a dirt pedal (Greer Lightspeed) for extra crunch. Although, I rarely use the pedal because the ZLux just doesn't need it.
I go back and forth with my volume settings and there really isn't a bad tone in this amp. I either set it around 10 o'clock or 2 o'clock. Sometimes I even max the volume and that sounds killer. But, I need the amp to be loud and clean a lot for country, so I typically keep it in the 10 o'clock range. Half the time it is on 1/2 power and I set the M/V according to the room.

I almost got up to check if mine had one. It is easy to assume so as it has every other possible amp feature. I don’t use loops so it could very well have had one and I wouldn’t have taken much notice.

I play in a Classic Rock band. Here are my settings.
By the clock-face: V=3, T=3, M=12, B=9, M=Room, R=9, and S and I based on the song.
I haven’t really figured out the Boost, so I don’t use it. I run the Z-Drive green side on all the time and hit the red side for solos.

Great suggestions above. I've found that I'm always changing mine. It's nearly impossible to get a bad tone out of it, so it really depends on the venue, guitar, and my mood at the moment. I don't think I've ever had it out where it didn't get compliments.

I don't gig, but I can play at home at raisonnable volume (to me ). I've tried tons of very good overdrives. The Menatone Red Snapper and the Barber LTD v1 were my two favorites. The Red Sapper can be nastier, but I've kept the LTD for its great smoothness.

I've been wanting a Z Wreck for a long time. I’ve never played through one but it really sounds good in the reviews I’ve watched. Which do you prefer between the Wreck and Lux? I LOVE both amps and the Z-Wreck is amazing. Gigging it for a year straight taught me how to play with pick dynamics. The Z-Lux is just more versatile for my situation: the 1/2 power switch (my Wreck doesn't have this) and the master volume allow me to play the amp in any room or venue. I love the reverb and the tremolo and use them all the time. That takes two pedals off my board. I think it is that MV that makes it my go to gigging amp for country and classic rock. However, I plan on still using the Wreck and that is why I have not sold it. You should try one if you get the chance.

I just started a post that I think you could be of great help with. I have a Remedy and a Wreck, but want to know more about the usefulness of the Z Lux v the Remedy.
