Hey there, Nova owners and/or orderers, I’m curious as to how many of you have also owned/own a Galaxie. I know the Nova is based off the Galaxie, and I’ve read about the technical differences (i.e. cascading gain stages vs. separate channels with a shared tone stack), but how are they different otherwise?
I mean, I heard the Nova at Z-Fest, but I’ve never heard a Galaxie live, so it’s hard to discern the similarities and differences just based on YouTube videos...
Are the cleans substantially different? The tone structure of the distorted sounds? What tweaks to the sound of the amp has the Doc made?
Just curious; appreciate any input you all might be able to offer.

We’ll I’m still waiting word on mine:(
But what I’ve gathered so far (same info you have) is the Nova has a MV and a presence and only has a T&B stack opposed to TMB. I’m jonesing more info/reports as well!

I've got both. Haven't done a really critical a/b listen but the cleans are similar. Nova OD is a little more tamed due to the circuit arrangement, i.e., there's not as much jump in volume as happens when switching between Gal channels.
One correction, nmz: there is no mid knob on my original Galaxie, which has not had the MV mod. Doc used the presence knob opening for the retrofitted MV, iirc, and set the circuit to be "fixed" at Presence around noon.
T&B are very important in tone and gain shaping on both amps.
I never gigged my Gal; it's a head, so I would have had to haul a cabinet. The Nova combo has already been out and was great.

I forgot to put down that the Gal has pentode/triode switch, which is not present on the Nova.
